Émile Deschamps came to Cyprus in 1892 and was the first French traveller to visit the island after the arrival of the British. In his book he describes the events and the circumstances he came across during his stay on the island. With his picturesque and colourful style, he describes the life conditions of the time, local customs, as well as traditions and scenes from social events.
