This illustrated catalogue was prepared for the homonymous exhibition held in Athens in 1991 at the N.P. Goulandris Foundation Museum of Cycladic and Ancient Greek Art. The exhibition was repeated three years later at the Cabinet des Médailles of the National Library of France. The aim of both the exhibition and its catalogue was to present a survey of 2200 years of Cypriot history through its coins. 222 coins of Cypriot city-kingdoms (6th – 4th century BC) from the Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Frankish and Venetian periods were in display. The exhibition closed with the coins minted in 1571 by the Venetian governor of Famagusta, while under Ottoman siege, Marc Antonio Bragadino.
