Through the Guide’s pages, the reader traces the history and location of the village of Kourdali, in the Pitsilia region, at 60 km southwest of Nicosia.  This is followed by a chapter on the architecture of the monastery’s katholikon, which is dedicated to the Dormition of Theotokos. The church belongs to the three-aisled timber-roofed type, proper to the Cypriot church architecture, and encountered mostly in the Troodos mountainous area. Apart from the monument’s typology, this particular chapter also features its different construction phases and building materials.  The chapter on the historical context looks at the artistic output under Venetian Dominion (1489-1571), namely the period during which the katholikon of the monastery of Our Lady Chrysokourdaliotissa was built and decorated. A separate chapter includes everything that is known about the church’s proprietors, Ioannis and Leon Kourdalis. The next chapter features descriptions of the monument’s remarkable wall-paintings, in the Cypro-Renaissance (or Italo-Byzantine) style, whereas in the section devoted to the iconostasis and portable icons, a description is offered of the ciborium of the altar and of the carved-wooden pews.
