Η Αστική Ενδυμασία της Κύπρoυ κατά τoν 18o και 19o Αιώνα [Cypriot Urban Costume in the 18th and 19th Centuries]

This study of the Cypriot urban costume during the last century of Ottoman occupation compiles valuable information derived not only from extant Cypriot items of clothing, but also from engravings, watercolours and rare or unpublished written sources — such as the register with the dragoman Hadjigeorgakis Kornessios’ estate and other lists of the estates of deceased persons from Nicosia and Larnaca. The wealth of illustrations included in this edition aptly complements the scientific research conclusions. “Cypriot Urban Costume in the 18th and 19th Centuries” is an important contribution to the preservation of memories and traditions and the study of the modern cultural heritage of Cyprus which since 1974 has become identical with the struggle for national survival.
