An improved, augmented edition in the form of a monograph of the text by Euphrosyne Rizopoulou-Egoumenidou. It deals with the humanshaped koukkoumares of Famagusta and was first published in the Cyprus Studies journal (2000–2001). In the chapters that follow, the pottery of Varosha and its decorated ceramics during the period of British rule are described. The author distinguishes between two basic groups of ceramics, which she proceeds to examine in detail. Included in the first group are 24 anthropomorphic vessels and in the second 28 vessels of various shapes with appliqué decoration.
