A reprint of A. Diamantis’ Αφήγηση (Narrative), first published in 1975 by the Cultural Committee of the Municipality of Nicosia. In this 1974 text, the artist describes in detail the conception and creation of his monumental painting “The World of Cyprus” (1967 – 1972), dedicated to poet G. Seferis. Written in a lively style, the narrative includes notes from the artist’s diary, as well as information on the materials, the technique and the consecutive phases of his work. Despite the extremely difficult conditions in which the work was completed, A. Diamantis’ ultimate message is one of optimism: “‘The World of Cyprus’ serves as a foundation for the Castle of new life”.
