For 39 years now, the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation has sponsored the annual competition announced by the Cypriot Association of Books for Children and Young Adults for best literary book for children aged 9 to 15. The deadline for the submission of entries was 31 March 2021.

 

At a meeting held on 24 June 2021, the jury decided to present the following awards for Best Unpublished Literary Book for Children and Youth:

 

 

Α. BEST UNPUBLISHED NOVEL COMPETITION (8 entries)

The first prize is awarded to the novel The year everything turned grey by Nikoletta Kapilla, and the second prize to The colour of wheat by Ioannis Panagiotou. The books The box of wishes (Demetris Lazarou) and The revenge of the hairy monsters (Maria Pieri-Stasinou) are given honourable mentions.

 

Β. BEST DEBUT CHILDREN’S AUTHOR (6 entries)

The first prize is awarded to the novel Mystery Lucky. Mystery in the North Pole by Anthi Panagi. Evaggelia Charalambous-Pautinou was given an honourable mention for the collection of fairy tales titled Jocko Cricket and the Caravan of Stories.

 

The Jury Members are: Dr Margarita Ioannou, Dr Kostas Katsonis, Flora Timotheou, Dr Christina Christodoulou and Dr Katerina Karatasou.
