F18 / Concert: "A Philharmonic Seduction with the Koncz Ensemble Vienna"

Faneromeni 18 Arts Festival

A “Philharmonic Seduction” invites us to wander around magnificent palaces, immense gardens, picturesque cafes, and take nostalgic walks. The concert is organized by the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation in collaboration with the Embassy of Austria in Cyprus to celebrate the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2018.

One hour of distinctive Viennese classical music in the Foundation’s Courtyard, in Nicosia intra muros, next to the Church of Panaghia Faneromeni. This wonderful setting will be enhanced further by music performed by members of the Philharmonics of Vienna and Berlin as the final event of the 3rd Faneromeni 18 Arts Festival.

Compositions from three different centuries will come together for just one night, wonderfully executed by exceptional 3 musicians from the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestras.

The musicians will present among others Beethoven’s early Serenade op. 8. Even though the composition was written for only three instruments, it reveals an indescribable complexity. This is indeed a small miracle, the epitome of inventiveness. Very few works by the young Beethoven combine such innovative yet replete composition with an imaginative melody beyond words.

Musicians:

Christoph Koncz (violin)
Gerhard Marschner (violin)
Stephan Koncz (cello)
