F18 / Concert: "Journey to the Myths and Legends”

Faneromeni 18 Arts Festival

A melodious voyage into the cultural heritage of Greece and Cyprus that has abundantly inspired great composers is endeavoured by the musical performance “Journey to the Myths and Legends”.

Through the medium of the art of lyrical singing, a broad group of talented performers and musicians venture into a musical journey into the Greek and Cypriot tradition and mythology.

An interesting, extremely enlightening singing narration that will stir the emotions of the audience with potent images, eternal symbols, revolutionary faith in man but also in the power of fate invites spectators to immerse themselves into words and notes.

These stories will be combined with references from Greek Mythology through arias from Orpheus and Euridice (C. Gluck), Dido and Aeneas (H. Purcell), Orpheus in Hades (J. Offenbach) and Pygmalion (J. Rousseau).

The narrator along with the rest of the artists will travel the audience to a mythical epoch, when mortals, gods, kings and knights engaged one another around the eternal topic of love.

Distinguished soloists Marisa Anastasiade (soprano), Elli Aloneftou (mezzo soprano), Marios Andreou (tenor) and Augusto Garcia (basso) will perform, with Plotinos Mikromatis at the piano. Concordia Chamber Players (Constantinos Dermitzoglou, Vicky Hadjiandreou, Nicolas Efhtymiou and Doros Zisimos) will invest this time-journey with music.
