F18 / Concert: “Songs and tunes of a treasured world”

Faneromeni18 Arts Festival

A Cypriot songwriter and singer with a presence in international discography and in prestigious festivals abroad (Festival Au Fil des Voix in France, Mawazine Festival Rythms of the World in Morocco, Klangvokal Festival in Germany) enchants Faneromeni 18 with her voice and artistic dexterity.

Vakia Stavrou, accompanied by talented pianist and orchestrator Marios Takoushis and bassist Gabriel Karapatakis appear in the Courtyard of the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation for a singular musical symbiosis imbued with creative imagination, improvisation, a new perspective and a renewed approach to favourite songs from several corners of the world in French, Spanish, Portuguese, English, Italian, Greek – always with a romantic mood permeated by potent emotions: after all, this is what distinguishes the performances of Vakia Stavrou, delivered by way of a crystalline voice replete with hues.

Creating in parallel is the duet, marked by profoundly emotional performances. Drawing on pure talent, they perform melodies and songs of the world, e.g. Edith Piaf, Astor Piazzola, Manos Chatzidakis, Attik, Antonio Carlos Jobim etc.

The transcendence and sentience of Vaka Stavrou’s music pledges to invigorate the festival during a special concert where the performer will present two compositions from her latest album, “Alasia”, recorded and released in France in early 2017.
