Our daily bread. How much does it cost… From ancient to modern times.
BACK TO LIST

In the context of the exhibition entitled Our daily bread. How much does it cost… From ancient to modern times, (10 October 2011 – 26 February 2012), the Cultural Foundation set up an educational programme for 5th and 6th grade students. The exhibition delved into the cost of nourishment, mainly the prices of basic products across the Hellenic region from the antiquity to nowadays, namely from the 5th century BC to the twentieth century.

With the help of an educational exercise book, students explored the exhibition and, based on the prices of edibles and the wages and values of other goods and services (i.e. clothing, travels, land prices, slaves etc), they learned about the alimentary habits and the coins of each different era.
