Having garnered from BBC the award for Best European World Music Band as well as a Latin Grammy for Best Flamenco album, the three founding members of Ojos de Brujo are getting ready to land in the courtyard of the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation as participants in the Faneromeni 17 arts festival. Keeping the sound and origins of Ojos de Brujo alive, the group will present what was initially called “flamenco rumba funk”, then baptized “hip hop flamenquillo”: a brand new genre that enthralled audiences in the early 2000s and carries on doing exactly that 17 years later.

In the setting of the open-air amphitheatre of the Foundation, spectators will enjoy the best flamenco rumbas, timeless tangoes and a few classic “buleria” experiments from the first three albums of Ojos de Brujo that make up their basic repertoire. Reggae, funk, rock, Indian and Arabic timbre, hip-hop, electric music and of course rumba Catalana come together in an explosive mixture turned call-to-action that will make everyone want to get up and dance. Particularly enchanting during their live shows, Ojos de Brujo invest in musical dexterity and passion, performing a wealth of socially sensitive lyrics.
